Flynn Creek Impact Crater, Tennessee, USA

Before I started learning 3D I was getting my Master's degree in geology researching the Flynn Creek Impact Crater in Tennessee, USA. Since then, I've wanted to create a piece representing the crater, what I learned about it, and that time as a graduate student. These images are of what the crater possibly would have looked like "shortly" after the impact, without the water. Below is a very brief description about the crater.

The impact occurred around 360 million years ago in a shallow sea environment which resulted in a 3.8 km diameter crater with an uplifted limestone and dolomite rim, breccia (angular rocks) moat, central peak. It was one of the first five craters classified as an impact crater, and the research on it went on to play a role in the Apollo moon missions. Nowadays, the crater is overgrown with vegetation, mostly privately owned, and you wouldn't really know it was there unless you knew what to look for, except for the road sign.
